Meet The Squishmallows…The Softest Squad You’ll Ever Squish

Welcome Wendy!  Wendy’s birthday is May 10, meaning her SquishScope sign is a Taurus.  You can always find her out on the basketball court (she won the MVP award last year) or in the science lab, since chemistry is her favorite subject.  She wants to be a famous scientist when she grows up and likes to paint pictures of her inventions.  She’s an all around green gal, and is also very eco-friendly, always doing her part to clean up her community.  Her favorite food is sushi, especially the avocado rolls and one of her other favorite hobbies includes gardening with her family! Are you ready to meet hyper Piper?  Piper is the queen of ice skating, and known for her fun dance moves and outrageous outfits!  She flies down the hills on her fluffy belly and holds the world record for creating the best igloo in all the world.  If she’s not playing in the snow, you can find her having cocoa with her friend Puff or scoping out new books to read in the local library.  She is incredibly wise and intuitive, and is always the first to come up with new ideas in class! It’s time to meet Puff, the tech-fanatic penguin!  He is the internet’s number one fan and is always searching for the newest thing.  He’s also into robotics, and has the most fun when he’s either building or coding.  Born November 5, Puff loves extra marshmallows in his cocoa, and sharing smiles with his friends.  He can be a bit silly sometimes, but he’s great at keeping secrets. If you’re looking for a feline friend, Cameron’s your cat.  He loves to jump in and out of boxes, build forts with his friends Hoot and Wendy and use his skateboard to get around town.  Cam also loves going to the beach to take cat naps with his friends, but is always up for an adventure!  One day for his birthday on December 18 he wants to take a trip around the world! But for right now, he’s set his eye on learning a new hobby – sailing! Fifi is your girl if you like to go on adventures!  She’s traveled to the Arctic, to the mountains and is ready to go on her next trip with you . Born October 6, Fifi has a vibrant personality and is quite the little firecracker.  She channels her energy through yoga flows, and is working on getting her yoga teacher certificate!  She recognizes that beauty comes from within, and loves to surround herself with others and spend time in the great, big, beautiful outdoors. Last, but certainly not least, meet Hans.  Hans has seen every movie ever and loves to eat pudding, especially with sprinkles.  Actually, when it comes to food, he’s willing to try whatever someone puts on his plate, probably because he is so open to change and adventure.  He visits his family in Europe every summer where they like to go to museums and explore new countries.  Last year on his birthday, August 6, his family surprised him with a special trip to the Alps!

8 Ways To Have Fun At The Mohave County Fair

First and foremost, I’d like to say a HUGE thank you to the Mohave County Fairgrounds for providing admission and parking passes for myself and my family.  We all had a blast, it was a really well put together event.  Secondly, thank you to Brown’s Amusements for putting on such a great event with courteous and professional staff.

If you’ll be in the northwest area of Arizona this weekend, you have to come to Kingman, AZ and check out the Mohave County Fair.  If you plan on visiting, here’s eight ways to have fun:

1.  Check out the livestock:

Check out the award-winning livestock from the local 4-H club.  4-H is the non-formal youth development education program of the United States Department of Agriculture and the University of Arizona.  4-H helps youth develop through the mentoring and involvement of parents, teens, and other volunteers.  They involve youth in organizing and conducting learning experiences in a community setting such as the county fair where they can show off their knowledge and hard work.

2.  Get hands on with the animals:

Get some hands on experiences with some of the animals.  Little ones can enjoy pony rides, and the whole family can go into the petting zoo and experience a wide variety of animals up close.  There are goats, chickens, pigs, alpacas…tons of animals to have fun with.  The petting zoo is free, but you can also purchase small cups of animal pellets for just $2 and make a ton of new friends quickly.

3.  Entertainment:

Looking for some entertaining fun?  The entertainment provided was tons of fun!  There were two separate stage areas with music and a live band, as well as some magical fun with local magicians.

4.  Vendors:

Visiting the vendors is a great way to learn about local businesses.  There were vendors from all over the tri-state area, ranging as wide as Mohave Community College down to smaller businesses like the local Sports Clips.  The indoor facilities were clean, inviting, and had more vendors than I’ve ever seen at any other local event.

5.  Fabulous Food:

Food, food, food!!  There were quite a few food options available, but the two pictured above were our favorite places to stop and get a bite to eat.  The concession stand was provided by Brown’s Amusements, and the Hog Haven Catering truck is from a local place that has some of the best food around.

6.  Games:

If you like games, then you’re in luck!  There were so many game concessions to choose from that it was almost impossible to pick which ones to play!  Many of the games are designed for kids to win with every play which is nice if you’re a family with younger children like mine.  Some of the games are geared toward an older audience in which patrons can test their skills to stand a bottle up or gently toss a ball into a bucket.

7.  Rides for kids:

There were SO many kid’s rides available which was a pleasant surprise for me.  I had prepared my 5 year old daughter for the possibility of not being able to ride a whole lot of rides, but there were TONS of rides available for her.  From Dizzy Dragons to the Scooper Jet kids rollercoaster, there was endless fun to be had, and let me tell you, it’s a great way to get kids to sleep well for an evening!  My daughter slept the whole ride home and went to bed immediately after arriving home.

8.  Rides for the older crowd:

Last but not least, the funnest part of all, the rides!  I have to admit, there were a few I was too afraid to go on, but my husband the daredevil and our two sons were ready to ride every single ride, despite me being a scaredy cat.  The Gravitron has been a favorite of mine since I was a child so I was really happy to see it at our local fair.  The Gondola Wheel was probably my favorite ride of all as it gave us a great view of the whole entire fair from above.
