The people over at Copy Kids DVD were gracious enough to send me a DVD -Eating Fruits and Vegetables- to watch with my daughter. I have to admit, this is a genius idea!
This is my daughter Jade, she is 19 months old. I am always trying to come up with fun ways to introduce fruits and vegetables to her. Copy Kids has done the work for me. I was shocked at how quickly she wanted to immitate the children on the screen.
As you can see from the 2 pictures (from her favorite chapter – Apples) she wouldn’t even take her eyes off of the screen to see what I was doing. She never let’s me take pictures of what she’s doing! She always stops and looks at the camera, so I guarantee this held her attention very well.
The DVD is split up into 12 chapters that are 6-8 minutes long each. The chapters are: bell pepper, carrots, raspberries, broccoli, bananas, strawberries, tomatoes, cucumber, oranges, avocado, apples, and blueberries. I think each chapter individually is great because if your child has a favorite (like mine does) you can play it easily for them without having to skip through.
There are a couple really cool bonus features on the DVD. One that my daughter loves – outtakes: Copy-Kids are Funny! And also one for me – Dr. Jay Gordon on ideal nutrition for kids. The biggest thing Dr. Gordon talks about in my book is not rewarding with cookies and treats for eating fruits and veggies, it defeats the purpose.
I would highly recomend this DVD for anyone with children ages 6 months to 5 years.
Copy-Kids has won 3 chidrens excellence awards! One from Dr. Toy, One from MACT, and one from Parent Tested Parent Approved. They were approved by the USDA and added to their Education and Training Materials Database for pre-school nutrition. You can find that info here.
