Move To The Beat Of Your Own Tune with SoundMoovz by Cra-Z-Art

If you haven’t heard of SoundMoovz yet, they are probably one of the greatest inventions that I’ve EVER come across!  SoundMoovz is the revolutionary motion-activated instrumental device that allows you to play sounds with movements.  You can create sounds by moving, and dance along at the same time.  It is a completely new performance sensation, changing the way you interact with music, while having fun.

Once you receive your SoundMoovz, it’s not long before you can get going and start having some fun!  The app you’ll need is easily available (and free), so there’s no extra cost to enjoy all the sweet fun SoundMoovz offers.  In the app you’ll find over 400 sounds that range from robots and drums to melodic sounds like the “sunrise” category.  Each SoundMoovz package comes with two special bands that users wear to enable the device.  These super cool musical bands can also be connected to a speaker for a bigger sound.

These bands each come with their own CR2032 button battery so I was a little worried about how the battery life would be.  It’s not that the batteries are expensive, I can usually buy a 5 pack of the CR2032 batteries online for just a few bucks, but if I had to replace them after every use it just wasn’t going to be worth it for me.  I am super pleasantly surprised that over the week my daughter has been using them (and it’s been A LOT) I haven’t had to replace the batteries even once!

I wanted to fully test out the variety of features so I had fun both using recipes provided by Ninja as well as coming up with a couple of my own to see just how easy it was to come up with custom creations on a whim. I tried out everything from breakfast to dinner and even a yummy bread for dessert, and everything came out absolutely perfect and so SO delicious!

 

ROLLED OATS WITH PEACHES, HONEY, AND WALNUTS

(Recipe found on page 31 of the cookbook included with the Ninja Cooking System with Auto-IQ)

Ingredients

  • 2 1/3 cups water
  • 1 bag (16 ounces) frozen peach slices
  • 1 cup uncooked old-fashioned whole grain rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients into the pot.  Stir to combine, then cover pot.
  2. Select Auto-IQ Meals: Recipe 3 and press the START/STOP button.
  3. Stir and Serve

 

AMERICAN CHOP SUEY

(Recipe found on page 62 of the cookbook included with the Ninja Cooking System with Auto-IQ)

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. canola oil
  • 1 pound uncooked ground beef
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1 box/bag uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) pasta sauce
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. kosher salt

Directions

  1. Set to STOVE TOP HIGH and preheat pot for 5 minutes.  Heat oil in pot for 2 minutes and then add ground beef, red bell pepper, and onion.  Cook uncovered for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add macaroni, pasta sauce, water, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and salt to pot.  Stir to combine, then cover pot.  Select Auto-IQ Layered Bowls: Recipe 4 and press the START/STOP button.  Stir and serve.

 

HEARTY BEEF STEW

(Recipe found on page 97 of the cookbook included with the Ninja Cooking System with Auto-IQ)

 

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds uncooked stew beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 4 red potatoes cut into quarters
  • 2 onions, peeled, cut into quarters
  • 1 cup baby carrots
  • 4 cloves garlic peeled and chopped
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed

Directions

  1. Season beef with salt and black pepper, then coat with flour.
  2. Set to STOVE TOP HIGH and preheat pot for 5 minutes.  Heat oil in pot for 2 minutes.  Add beef and cook uncovered for 10 minutes or until browned, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir broth, potatoes, onions, carrots, garlic, and thyme into pot.  Set to SLOW COOK LOW for 7-9 hours.  Cover and cook until beef is fork-tender.  Stir in peas during last 10 minutes of cook time.

 

SPICY SHREDDED CHICKEN TACOS

(This is a recipe I created for a tasty Hispanic-inspired meal)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 lbs fresh or frozen chicken breast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 jalapenos sliced
  • 5 habaneros sliced
  • 1 bunch cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1 fresh lemon, quartered
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Directions

  1. Season chicken with salt and black pepper, then place in the bottom of your cooking system.
  2. Add jalapenos, habaneros, cilantro, lemon juice, lemon, onion, and garlic on top of the chicken.
  3. Set to SLOW COOK LOW for 6 hours.  Remove chicken from pot and shred with 2 forks.  Serve with your desired toppings.

 

PUMPKIN CREAM CHEESE SWIRL BREAD

(This is a recipe I created for a yummy fall-flavored treat)

Ingredients

Bread-

  • 1 cup pure pumpkin puree
  • 1 large egg
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup oil
  • ¼ cup cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Cream Cheese Filling-

  • 1 large egg
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour

 

Directions

  1. Grease a 9 x 5 loaf pan with cooking spray, set aside.
  2. In a large bowl combine pumpkin, egg, sugar, oil, sour cream and vanilla extract.
  3. Fold in the cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt just until just combined.
  4. Pour 1/4 of the batter into the prepared pan.
  5. Meanwhile prepare the cream cheese filling by whisking all of the ingredients in a medium bowl.
  6. Pour 1/3 of the cream cheese filling on top of the batter spreading it out gently with a spatula.
  7. Repeat layers with remaining cream cheese and pumpkin bread mixtures.
  8. Swirl the layers together with a butter knife until you’ve achieved the look you want to achieve.
  9. Pour water into pot.  Place rack in pot.  Place loaf pan on rack.  Set to BAKE STEAM at 350 degrees for 85 minutes.  Cover and cook until wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.  Remove pan from pot.  Let bread cool in loaf pan on cooling rack for 10 minutes, then remove from pan.
  10. Let cool completely or slice and serve warm.

 

So far everything that I have tried out in the Ninja Cooking System with Auto-IQ has come out amazingly delicious, and has instantly become family favorites…even for some of my most picky eaters!  Thanks to Ninja, the holiday season is going to run a lot more smoothly, and will be a lot more delicious too!

Keep Your Home Well This Winter With Honeywell

As the cooler weather approaches there’s no time like the present to start preparing for the bone-chilling winter ahead.  Many of you know I live in Arizona, and although it’s SUPER hot during the summer, winter is a whole other ball game.  I live in a high elevation in Northern AZ and the temperatures drop to surprisingly low (single digit) levels.  Because I live in a rural area, our homes are heated with propane as opposed to natural gas and it can get very costly very quickly.  On average we go through a full tank of propane a month during the winter, and at $400 and up per fill, it’s not cheap.  I set out to find some functional yet affordable heaters to help alleviate the propane bill and the products that Honeywell has to offer just seemed like the perfect fit for the rooms that we wanted to use the portable heaters in.

We wanted a little extra heat in our master bedroom so we were looking for a heater that could heat a good sized room without having to work really hard.  The Digital Ceramic Tower Heater with Motion Sensor had all of the features we were looking for so we figured we’d give it a shot.  The powerful ceramic heating technology with wide-range oscillation allows for quick and easy whole-room heating, even for a larger room which is perfect!  In a home with pets and children, safety is a must.  This motion sensor shuts off the heater if an object is detected and the heater will shut off until the object is moved, resuming where it left off and keeping the temperature you’ve already pre-set.  The digital controls are easy for even the least tech-savvy people making it a great fit for most homes out there looking for a way to stay toasty when old man Winter rears his cold, cold head.

Meet The New Creation From littleBits and Star Wars

Safe Travels With Slime Flat Tire Repair Kits

With so many things going on in our day-to-day lives, there are a lot of things that should be considered more often that go unnoticed.  How often do you think about your spare tire?  Or even just a flat tire?  Probably never, right?  If you live in a rural area like I do, this is actually something that I think about on a weekly basis.  My home is pretty isolated from much of everything, and it’s a 25 mile journey one way through VERY unpopulated terrain to the closest town with grocery stores.

The pictures above are from my journey into town to go grocery shopping (don’t worry, I was the passenger, not the driver).  I typically drive these roads alone during the week, and every single time I drive anywhere, I’m ALWAYS worried about a flat tire.  I do not know how to change a tire (I’m spoiled I guess, my husband is the one who does the vehicle maintenance), and as you can see from my pictures, if I were to ever get a flat tire alone I’d be stuck in a position I don’t want to be in.  There are 5 miles of dirt roads between my home and the main road that runs through my tiny town, and sharp rocks and washboard ridges on these roads are always a concern of mine.  The cellular service here is spotty at best, so it’s not likely I could call anyone for help.  Walking to anywhere would be next to impossible in the Arizona heat…so what’s a girl supposed to do?
